Sam Gilmour is an emerging oil painter based in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, who brings over a decade of dedicated practice to her evocative paintings. Working primarily in traditional oils, she creates works distinguished by rich depth of colour, texture, and light. Her commitment to craft extends beyond the brush: she constructs custom panels and elegant tray frames for each piece, ensuring a unified, handcrafted quality from substrate to presentation.

Her paintings draw from memory and place, nature and nostalgia, hope and history- inviting viewers to pause within atmospheric moments that feel both intimate and universal. A fully registered Visual Arts educator, she brings technical rigour and clarity to her evolving studio practice.

After exhibiting at Art in the Park’s Emerging Artist Gallery in 2025, Sam returns to Eden Park in November 2026 with a new body of work.
